Woodingdean based web developers Build14me teamed up with marketing and communications agency Frank! to hold a fundraising workshop for local businesses. The workshop, held in Woodingdean on 9 July was the first of a series of workshops based on the ASSET* 5-step approach to making websites more visible to local people.
The 2 hour workshop was attended by local businesses and organisations who were taken on a whistlestop tour to introduce them to the benefits of using social media and local listings to increase their online profile and ultimately increase footfall and sales.
Ben MacDonald of Build14me said:
'We designed the workshop to answer the questions we are most frequently asked when we talk to local businesses. We kept our explanations and suggestions really practical and to the point. We wanted to be sure that when people left the workshop they could immediately start to make a difference to their online visibility'
Jo Weatherall of Frank! said
'We were delighted with the attendance at the event (which was sold out) but have been even more delighted that practically all the attendees left the workshop and started making changes that have already increased their visibility. The group who attended have been incredibly supportive of each other – retweeting, favouriting, liking and adding reviews to each others social media accounts.'
The comments from attendees tell their own story – read them below:
"I went to the workshop without any knowledge of social media and came away with new inspiration to use it within my business. I have since set up on various social networks and am confident this will help my business grow."
"An informative and relaxed workshop where everyone was put at ease with lots of really useful tips"
"An excellent presentation, geared to help local businesses get an edge on the competition. There was a lot to learn and I would guess we would all go back for a refresher course in six months, to catch up on items learnt and keep abreast of new changes and shortcuts. It seems the topic is vast and changing very fast."
“Pitched just right - no IT jargon, clear and well paced. And biscuits! And all for a donation to The Martlets - great work Build14me!"
"A great workshop with lots of useful tips for maximising the benefit of Social Networking for business, events and projects."
